GOOD OF THE CLUB:
Jim Smedley stated he has received several E-mails in the past month from different organizations trying to support General Motors Employees. He mentioned the web sites and some of them require annual fees or donations. Some are politically orientated. If you would like, you can check out these web sites and the information they provide. One site is the NRLN (National Retiree Legislative Network) their website is www.nrln.org they informed politicians about not taxing the portion of our health benefits that GM pays for us. Also, they wrote a letter about the current plight of the auto industry’s salaried retirees. Another website is for GMRA (General Motors Retirees Association) designed to be a voice for GM Retirees. Their website is www.gmret.org. They also have been writing letters to politicians.
In a letter, Jim received the following notice from the over the hill car club group:
“Presidents of Retiree Clubs representing the Big 3 have written a letter to the Treasury Secretary requesting to meet with Obama’s Automotive Task Force to discuss concerns about non-union employees of the auto industry in regards to the restructuring efforts”.
Everyone gave Angela Thomas and Betty Bonner a big Thank You for the work they are doing with the quilts.
