Everyone is invited to bowl free on August 4th at 1pm, Parkville Lanes. Bowling for this coming season will resume on the first Tuesday after Labor Day. Cost is $14 per week and it includes a bowling banquet.
HISTORIAN: SKIP SHIFLETT
Skip announced the Baltimore Museum of Industry grand opening for the GM Exhibit will be held as planned this Saturday, June 27th from 10am to 4pm. All retirees and families are invited to attend, free of charge. Copies of directions are at the front table.
WAYS AND MEANS: CLARA HUNT
Clara announced the 35th Anniversary of the GM Salaried Club of Maryland will be celebrated with a dinner and party on Sunday August 2, 2009 at Rosedale Gardens on Philadelphia Road from 1-5pm. Admission is free to all members and $30 for a member’s escort if she/he is not a member. The event will include a dinner, open bar and a live band for dancing. To make reservations please call Marge Stock at 410-563-4931. No assigned tables.
Anyone wishing to join BJs should bring their application directly to Clara.
Also, Clara will obtain Entertainment Books for those wishing to purchase them this year.

A GM retiree, but not a club member, Katherine McGee has passed away.
A get well card has been sent to Thelma Brown who is in the hospital. Congratulations to Al and Joan Komin on celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

GOOD OF THE CLUB:
Jim mentioned he has no more significant information about the bankruptcy other than what has been in the news lately. Jim clarified to members that GM Executives and the UAW have also made concessions in the current restructuring plans.
The clunker bill was signed June 24, 2009 which will provide buyers with a voucher up to $4,500 to help pay for a new, more efficient car or truck. It will begin approximately July 25, 2009.
We are still looking at ways to reduce the cost of the lunches. Our goal is to break even on the lunches, not to make money on it.
Current lunch rates are now:
$3.00 for Pizza and $4.00 for all other meals.

Food will be hot dogs and beans and a cold salad, probably potato or macaroni salad.. Cost $4.00
