They will be having hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Jim and I have been to previous BMI celebrations and they always have been very nice. We encourage everyone to come to the affair and to see the exhibit. Jim and I have talked about what we need to do to refresh the display for next year. PRESENTATION OF BILLS: N/A
Leo Heid inquired if anyone had information about what is going on with President Obama’s health care bill. A lot of our elected officials have not made any decision on the bill. It was mentioned that there are supposed to be provisions in the bill that say the government will have a lot of control over what happens to you when you get older. This could be life threatening based on what kind of medical treatment they say you will or will not be able to receive. Another concern mentioned was if you don’t have privatized health insurance by the time this bill takes effect and you can’t get it, you will have to take the government insurance. This is partly why the legislators are undecided with their votes. There is the possibility that Congress will take their August break and pick up talks when they return in September. President Obama mentioned that they may have something accomplished by the end of the year instead of the end of July as originally stated. Jack Sommers said he has read a lot about it and doesn’t like it. It wouldn’t hurt to get in touch with your Senators and Representatives and let them know your opinion. Also remember how they vote and make your voice known at the next election.
