GOOD OF THE CLUB:

Jim read a news release from this morning about GM’s profits for 2010. Highlights of the release said that GM earned $4.7 billion in 2010, the most in more than a decade and the first time it turned a profit since 2004. The good news for the retirees is that the pension fund underfunding is now $11.5 billion, down from $16 billion last year.  Sales rose globally by 12.2 percent to 8.39 million and came within 30,000 vehicles of retaking the title of world’s largest automaker from Toyota.  GM salaried workers in the United States will receive bonuses, generally ranging from 4 to 16 percent of their pay.
