NEW BUSINESS:

GOOD OF THE CLUB:

Jim welcomed new & infrequent members.

News articles have been circulating about modifications to the salaried employee's retirement plan. It doesn't affect current retirees. It applies to employees who retire on or after Dec.ll,2011, who will now have a lump sum option available to them.  Another article published on Feb.16th announced GM had a record profit of $7.6billion in 2011. Most of the record profit was attributed to the changes made after the 2009 bankruptcy.  Not mentioned in the article, but mentioned on the news was the advantage GM and other US automakers received from the devastation on Japanese automakers caused by the tsunami in Japan.  It also mentioned GM recaptured the top spot for auto sales in the world, last held in 2007. The US government stills owns about 27% of GM.

We were asked to announce the 2nd. Annual GM reunion to be held on June 16,2012  from 7to12pm at UAW union hall,1010 Oldham St. Be sure to tell all your GM friends and family. Cost is $35.00 in advance $40.00 at the door.  Contacts are: Roland Pack-443-676-5864, Regina Downs-410-366-1317, Ronald Carroll-410-764-2671, Rosa Roberts-410-663-1108.If you go, plan on car pooling, there is very little parking.

Mark Bowyer mentioned that the State of Maryland will not be sending out driver license renewal notices, he did not know when this goes into effect so if your license is due to expire he recommends calling the MVA for info.
