NEW BUSINESS:

GM NEWS:

GM Sales: General Motors earned $945 million for the first quarter of 2015, four times higher than the $214 million a year earlier. Losses were mostly in Venezuela because of their currency devaluation and Russia, where GM announced last month it would stop nearly all manufacturing because of their economic downturn.  Profits in North America and China more than made up for losses in Europe and South America.

Ignition Compensation: There are still over 1,000 ignition compensation open claims to be reviewed.  2.5 million small cars have been recalled and the final cost is expected to be about $600 million.  GM will pay at least $1 million for each death claim.

Arlington Expansion:  Arlington received $1.2 billion for expansion due to the increase in SUV sales.  The expansion is expected to add 589 jobs. Demand has been high for the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, 2015 GMC Yukon family, 2015 Yukon Denali family and the 2015 Cadillac Escalade family.

Spark Incentive: GM is cutting the sticker price on the Spark EV by $1,650 and adding cash incentives that will allow buyers to get the battery electric minicar for as low as $14,995 after federal and state tax breaks. GM is offering a lease on a Spark for $139 a month for 39 months with no money down.  The cost of the Spark is approximately $19,000 after all rebates and incentives.
